How to Generate the Update Request File
How to generate a remote update request file
Run ODEON. In the Tools menu select Generate a remote update request file. The following dialogue will be displayed:

Use this dialogue to specify the details of your license update.
Version Number
From ODEON Version 10 onwards, the update for new versions will be performed on-line. The check box: Update to the most recent version of Odeon is to be checked to update to the latest version.
However, such an update is only necessary for upgrades, for example, when going from any version 9.x to any version 10.x. The license is then valid for all sub-versions, that is, 10.0, 10.1, etc.
User Name
For copy protection your user name and country is embedded in the dongle. You can change your user name by checking the box: Update user name.
Note: The user name can only be updated separately from the other updates. Furthermore, when sending the request file to your local Brüel & Kjær contact, you should write the user name you wish in the e-mail.
Time Limitation
In the ODEON programme, you can always see how much time is left on your time limitation in Tools|License information. The time limitation counts down hours when ODEON is in calculation mode. Calculation mode means ODEON is running jobs from the job list, calculates Quick Estimate, Global Estimate, does 3DGeometry Debugging or 3DBilliard, and when ODEON is in Investigate Ray Tracing mode. However, during the modelling process, that is, when using modelling programs, importing geometries, viewing geometries, etc., ODEON does not use “hours”.
Note: If more than one instance of ODEON is performing calculations at the same time, time runs faster.
When your dongle is delivered it may contain a time limitation. If you have agreed to update the time limitation for a number of hours, check the box Update time limitation and write the number of hours requested. Send the remote update request file to your Brüel & Kjær contact.
Removing the time limitation entirely can usually be done without sending a remote update request. Check the box Remove time limitation if you have agreed with Brüel & Kjær to do this. However, you may have to send an update request file. If so, the above steps will not remove the time limitation.

Implement your Update File
When you have received the update file from us, you should update your ODEON license by downloading the license update file (.cif) to dongle. Follow the points below:
- Extract the license update file from e-mail to your harddisk to, for example, your desktop
- Attach your ODEON dongle to the USB port on the PC
- Run the ODEON program
- Use the Tools|Download license update to dongle menu entry
- Select the file using the Select license update file (.cif) dialog (e.g. select User2005_Dongle102009_Odeon Industrial_V5__Restricted_0h.cif)
Error Message
The remote update file should be used only once to update the dongle. If you use the update file more than once you will get the error message shown below.

IF an error is shown while implementing the update file for the first time, simply generate and e-mail a new remote update request file.
