Vehicle Pass-by Noise Testing
Community noise regulations put stringent requirements on road vehicle exterior noise emission. Regulations apply to cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, and scooters. Manufacturers have to certify that their vehicles comply with noise emission standards by measuring according to procedures defined by international standards, commonly known as Pass-by and Coast-by noise tests. In a pass-by test the vehicle is under power (driven), while in a coast-by test the vehicle is in neutral with its engine off.
Brüel & Kjær offers a turnkey pass-by solution based on PULSE multi-analyzer platform. Powerful and flexible, this system supports all common international test standards.
Company test procedures can be easily incorporated into the PULSE Vehicle Pass-by Test Software Type 7788. Real time multi-analysis means all results are available as soon as the measurement finishes without need for additional operations. Time data recordings can be made in parallel with tests allowing off-line analysis at a later time.
The commonly used ISO 362 standard has been revised and the ECE Regulation 51 (Law) has also been revised to correspond to the updated ISO 362 procedure. This means that in affected countries, the introduction period has started and many are required to test according to the 1998 version of the ISO 362 along with the revised version.
Our current version of Vehicle Pass-by offers full support for the revised ISO 362 as well as Tyre Noise according to ISO 13325 and Exhaust Noise according to ISO 5130.
For customers of our Type 3558 Pass-by system, microphones, radar, and photocells can be re-used directly in our system. In addition to this, special trade-in discounts are available to owners of Type 3558 systems.
