Douglas Manvell was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1965. He graduated from the University of Surrey in 1988 after specialising in Acoustics. Douglas has 20 years experience of working with environmental noise solutions, first as a technical writer, later as project manager, application specialist and product manager. Douglas has organised several training courses in environmental noise management, monitoring, measurement and calculation. He has over 10 years experience in the field of standardisation and legislation. He is a m ember of international standardisation working groups ISO TC43/SC1/WG45 on environmental noise assessment (revision of ISO 1996) and ISO TC43/SC1/WG52 on ISO 20906 airport noise monitoring. He is the author of many papers on environmental noise and has chaired sessions at several international conferences.
